The event will run from 9pm until the wee hours of 3am and all the lovely ladies that show up in Hello Kitty apparel will receive free admission plus champagne, and have an opportunity to win prizes at midnight! Sounds like my kind of event!

Ty, Inc. and Hello Kitty to the Rescue!

US toymaker Ty, Inc. pledged to donate $1m and ‘I Love Japan’ Hello Kitty beanie babies to aid the Japanese earthquake relief efforts.

TOKYO (Kyodo) -- The president of U.S. toymaker Ty Inc., which sells popular "Beanie Baby" stuffed animals worldwide, presented Friday a certificate pledging to donate more than $1 million and a special Hello Kitty doll to Japanese Red Cross Society President Tadateru Konoe, showing the company's commitment to helping those affected by the March 11 earthquake and tsunami.

Ty Warner, president and chief executive officer of the Illinois-based company, pledged to donate to Japanese disaster victims via the American Red Cross $1 million, plus proceeds from sales worldwide of a $4.99 special edition of the Hello Kitty doll, with the cat dressed as a Red Cross nurse. The stuffed toy was developed in cooperation with Sanrio Co., the creator of Hello Kitty.

Last week Ty officials visited children in Ishinomaki Red Cross Hospital in Miyagi Prefecture, which was ravaged by the quake and tsunami, and donated the "I Love Japan" Hello Kitty dolls.

Warner said the company will keep selling the stuffed toy produced exclusively for the Red Cross as long as the reconstruction work from the March disaster continues.

"If I can keep Hello Kitty and if I can keep setting it at the forefront...people, I think, are not going to forget," the president said. "We will keep selling this all over the world. This clean-up will maybe take five years or more."

After receiving the donation, Konoe expressed his gratitude for a "charming gift" by the toymaker, saying he believes the stuffed animal will comfort Japanese children.

The Hello Kitty nurse doll hit the global market except for Japan in May. Consumers in Japan can purchase the product online.

23rd September 2011, Milan. Over the years Hello Kitty’s style has flourished and matured into a global brand with avid followers all over the world. Now, Hello Kitty has a stylish new look – Pynkiss.

Designed in Milan by top Italian designers this high-end collection exudes sophistication, is contemporary and bold, stylish and cheeky, new and exciting, yet still authentically Hello Kitty. This is a true designer collection and is aimed at those looking for quality, along with cutting edge design and high class fashion. Pynkiss is designed for the fashion and quality conscious, from babies to teens and on to mums – a total look for all generations!

Pynkiss will launch during Milan Fashion week 2011, with a collection of over 200 head turning designs, many of which will be finely appliquéd with crystals, beads and sequins and hand- stitched and finished in Milan. Pynkiss’ design studios are located in the very heart of Milan and the design team is made up of a creative and skilled group of people with diverse backgrounds, from stylists to graphic designers. The design team is lead by Monica Ricci, who has previously specialised in fashion accessories and over the years has honed her skills as a seasoned designer at many recognised designer labels, from the high street to high fashion, including:  Cartorama, Panini, Gut, Refrigue, MBC, Patrizia Pepe and Sanrio.

About Pynkiss

Founder Chady Jreige’s background is in jewellery and he studied gemology until 2001.  He was soon after approached by the French company Victoria Couture, who owns a jewellery brand Victoria Casal, and asked him to develop their business in the Middle East and North Africa regions. He put together an expert team, built the business up and took the brand to new heights. The jewellery line was such a great success that the board asked him, then, to work on the main brand, Victoria Couture and Hello Kitty, for which he, then, owned the franchise in the Middle East, North Africa and Asia Pacific. Again, this was a resounding success and Chady soon fell in love with Hello Kitty, just as the rest of the world had before him.

Chady saw there was a need for a high-end Hello Kitty brand so decided to create just that– that’s when Pynkiss was born. He approached Sanrio about a new licence for Pynkiss, which they duly granted and again set about gathering a team of experts around him. Suddenly, Chady was being approached by people across three continents with business contacts asking how they could invest in the business. Now Pynkiss stores are set to open all over the world and Chady has realised his dream for a global high-end fashion brand.

Something Smells Fishy with Hello Kitty!

Hello Kitty has come to life at South Coast Plaza in  Costa Mesa, CA thanks to Dougherty + Dougherty Architects, LLP who constructed the fabulous feline out of 6800 cans of food (mostly tuna!). The giant sculpture titled ‘Hello Kitty, Goodbye Hunger’ depicts Hello Kitty sitting in a field with her picnic basket.

CANstructionOrange County invited Dougherty + Dougherty Architects, LLP and other leading architects in the community to create the sculptures to celebrate National Child Awareness Month and the 10th Annual Festival of Children.

The August 2011 edition of License Magazine confirms the rumors of a Kiss x Hello Kitty collaboration that surfaced when Gene Simmons dropped the following tweet on June 19th, 2011:

Tomorrow (Sat), meeting with execs from Hello Kitty Re: a KISS-Hello Kitty worldwide deal. Wow.

License Magazine reports:

Kiss recently announced a partnership with another iconic brand, Hello Kitty, which will further expand the merchandising efforts of both properties. Furano says the new partnership, which will bring co-branded merchandise to 250 countries, will be heavily promoted during Brand Licensing Europe, Oct. 18-20, in London, and hit retail in the second half of 2012.

Street Fighter x Hello Kitty

The same edition of License Magazine also mentions the Capcom and Sanrio Street Fighter x Hello Kitty collaboration that was announced in July of 2011:

SAN DIEGO – July 22, 2011 – Capcom® Entertainment, Inc., a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, and Sanrio, Inc., creator of beloved icon Hello Kitty®, today announced a partnership to create a new line of co-branded Street Fighter™ themed merchandise that will launch in fall 2012. The collaboration will be a fusion of the unique styles of these world-famous brands, yielding a broad range of merchandise featuring Hello Kitty dressed in the distinct costumes from the Street Fighter series of video games.

“Capcom has long admired Sanrio and their ability to create memorable and cherished lifestyle brands so it is a distinct pleasure to partner with them for this new cross-over line of merchandise,” said Joshua Izzo, Director of Licensing, Capcom Entertainment, Inc. “The combination of Street Fighter and Hello Kitty will offer fans a whole new way to experience our characters.”

“We are always looking for new ways to surprise our fans and partnering with a strong brand-focused company such as Capcom is a natural fit for us,” said Jill Koch, Vice President of Brand Management and Marketing, Sanrio, Inc. “Hello Kitty and Street Fighter have a dedicated core following around the world and our collaboration brings the legacy of both brands together in a fun and unexpected way.”

Specific details on the co-branded merchandise and retailer availability will be released at a later date.

Street Fighter® was first released in the arcades in 1987. This was followed up in 1991 with the smash hit Street Fighter® II, and as of April 12, 2011, the series as a whole has shipped more than 31 million units on home consoles worldwide. The innovative battle system found in the Street Fighter games helped to establish the fighting game genre for video games.

Both partnerships demonstrate just how diverse and far reaching the Hello Kitty brand spans.

The world of Hello Kitty and One Piece Collide!

One Piece x Hello Kitty

Toei Animation announced today that it has partnered with Sanrio to launch the One Piece x Hello Kitty series of collaborative goods in November. The collaboration invites characters like Tony Tony Chopper from the pirate world of One Piece to play in world of cuteness that is Hello Kitty.

Since it’s release in 1997, One Piece has become one of the most popular manga series of all time world wide.

Sounds like the partnership has all the makings for success and we can’t wait to see what kind of wonderful products begin rolling out in November!
